Poll: 70 Percent Of Americans Disapprove Of How Biden Handled Afghanistan Withdrawal

The first poll released following the collapse of Kabul indicates a majority of Americans disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of the Afghanistan troops withdrawal.

Conducted between August 14 and 15, the Convention of States Action and Trafalgar Group survey found close to 70 percent of respondents do not approve of the president’s Afghanistan withdrawal handling. About 60 percent of the 1,084 individuals polled “strongly disapproved.”

In terms of military operations in Afghanistan, 80 percent indicated they “strongly disapprove.” Most participants, about 39 percent, were Democrats and 35.6 percent of those polled were Republicans, followed by one-quarter who identify as non-partisan or other.

The survey, which was with likely general voters, further sheds light on the ensuing Afghanistan crisis. While Biden is only now returning from Camp David and White House press secretary Jen Psaki is on vacation, the Taliban captured Kabul.

According to Fox News Pentagon correspondent Lucas Tomlinson, the president ordered 1,000 more troops Monday to Afghanistan. This brings the total to 7,000. Reports indicate the Taliban is conducting “door to door” probes for U.S. journalists and allies.

“Taliban started door to door search looking for govt officials, former police & security forces members & those who worked for foreign countries NGOs or infrastructures in Afghanistan,” tweeted a journalist in Kabul Monday. “At least 3 journalists’ houses were searched in the last hour. Kabul is now becoming deadly.”

Biden claimed six weeks ago that the Afghan military would be “well-equipped” to fend off the Taliban, a statement now proven to be untrue.

“I trust the capacity of the Afghan military, who is better trained, better equipped, and more competent in terms of conducting war,” Biden said. “The likelihood there’s going to be the Taliban overrunning everything and owning the whole country is highly unlikely.”

Former President Donald Trump made a deal with the Taliban to pull U.S. forces out of Afghanistan by May 1. The deadline went unobserved.
